Fordham Lee Distillery
Any whiskey worth a damn has a story worth telling. Our founder Bill & his best-friend Bruce, share fifty years worth of stories (you’ll have to hear the fun ones first hand). They left home after high school – Bill studied aviation at the University of Oklahoma, and Bruce joined the US Army 4th Infantry Division. Discovering a love for fine bourbon, they slowly developed their palettes by tasting whiskeys from all over the world.
Returning home to settle down, they built successful businesses, got married, and raised families. These joyful occasions kept their friendship close, but the tragedies they came to share brought them closer. Bruce was the first to experience the loss of a young son. Twelve years later, Bill shared this story too. They found the strength to overcome by the grace of God, the love of their families and through the power of their friendship.
Years later, Bill decided he had it in him to make a bourbon whiskey of his own, and built a distillery at his home in Middletown, Maryland. With Bruce’s help, he spent years tasting, tweaking, and perfecting his recipes, and finally the brand needed a name. To represent the heart and soul poured into each bottle, he honored their sons. Bill named his bourbon whiskey for Fordham Lee, and his high-rye bourbon for Bruce’s son Zachary Edward.
At Fordham Lee Distillery, the quality of our bourbon and cream-based whiskey shines through in their taste. Reflecting the pride that these names hold for our founder, we lovingly attend to each step of the distillation process, from grain to glass.
From Bill, Bruce, and all of us at Fordham Lee Distillery, we wish you many good times ahead, and raise toast to “a spirit worth remembering.”
